How it started

Steamboat Springs, 2015

Michael and Sara met at a camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, in 2015. They married in 2023 — Sara became a Royf — and have been building a life together ever since: Tel Aviv, AutoDS, SODA, Liam, and Quentin all followed from there.

The surname Royf travelled through Yiddish from the Hebrew רופאrofe, “healer” or “physician.” In the old country, a royfe was the person the village called when someone was sick. The name is a job description we inherited. — Where the name comes from
